Despite Miami's incredible start, they are ranked 10th in the first BCS rankings of the year.
The Hurricanes might have had the hardest start to a schedule in NCAA history having to face four ranked opponents. Certainly, no one expected them to come out of the first four games with a winning record. Their only loss came at the hands of the Viginia Tech Hokies; a loss that could cost them a chance at the ACC title.
The Canes find themselves in a three-way tie with Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech after the Yellow Jackets defeated the Hokies on Saturday. If all three teams go undefeated the rest of the way, the ACC Champion will be decided by a random drawing from a hat. The ACC has eight tiebreakers with the last one being by draw; an outcome that no one wants to see.
It will take a bit of luck in order for Miami to avoid leaving their fate to a lottery shot at the ACC title. After all, there's nothing better than settling the score on the gridiron.
